How Sundays Changed the World

Part 5 – I Love Sundays

If you call the Sabbath a delight…then you will find your joy in the Lord, and I will cause you to ride in triumph on the heights of the land.        Isaiah 58:13–14

Core beliefs of the World Changers:

15 He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?”  16 Simon Peter replied, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”

1.) Believe that Jesus is Messiah and the Son of God.

  • “Who Am I?” - The Suffering Messiah/Savior, the Son of the Living God. (v.21)

18 And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church,

2.)   Trust that Jesus is the Rock of truth.

  • “I will build my church” on the revelation of Jesus the Divine Savior of men.
  • Matt. 7:24 – A wise man built his house on the Rock!

18 …and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

3.)   Have faith that Jesus ultimately wins!

  • Galatians 6:9-10 – Never give up on doing good.
  • If the Creator builds, who can stand against? (Col.1:15-17)

19 I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.”

4.)   Accept Jesus’ call to partnership in kingdom-work.

  • Authority comes with the keys! (John 14:6 – One way.)
  • Matthew 28:19-20 – The Great Co-Mission

A few “Sunday People” in history who took this seriously:

Wilberforce, Watts, Boyle, Kelvin, Kepler, Newton, Bunyan, Lewis, Bradford, Penn, Columbus, Blackstone, Livingstone, Francis Kamau (in Kenya), Booth, Naismith

Why do we come to Church? To be empowered and re-charged to “Be the Church!”

How is God calling you to join Him as He builds His Church?
