Part 3 - Imperfect Parenting

 

Know well the condition of your flocks, and give attention to your herds…    Prov. 27:23

 

Questions to help you lead your child in God’s direction:

 

 You shall teach them diligently to your children…                  Deut. 6:7a

1.)       1. How will I determine ___________________________________for my children?

  • What do we want our kids to leave the house with? (Character, Skills, Convictions, etc.)

- We could call this: Premeditated Parenting. (Steve Nelson)

  • Mal. 2:15 - And what was the one God seeking? Godly offspring.

 

 

 7…and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise. Deut. 6:7b

 2.) How will I _____________________________________ to make progress toward God’s goals?

 

  • 2 Tim. 3:16 – God’s Word is useful!
  • Prov. 22:28 – Do not move the ancient boundary.
  • Hebrews 12:6 – The Lord disciplines the one He loves.

- The “Circle of Blessing.” (Deut. 5:16)

 

 You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates

Deut. 6:8-9

 

3.) How will I_________________________________________my children to pursue God’s goals as their own?

 

  • Jer. 6:16 - “Stand by the roads, and look, and ask for the ancient paths, where the good way is; and walk in it, and find rest for your souls.”
  • Prov. 23:26 – Give me your heart, let your eyes examine my way.
  • Luke 6:40 - Everyone when he is fully trained will be like his teacher.

 

How can you make progress in leading your kids in God’s direction?
