Passage: 2 Corinthians 5:1-21

Something Greater – “Living with Certainty” 2Corinthians 5:1-21

 

“Perhaps the greatest certainty of authentic Christianity is whether or not I live it out.”

 

The Recipe for Living with Certainty

Vs 1-5: “Now we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have this building from God, an eternal house in heaven…Now it is God who has made us for this very purpose and he has given us the Spirit as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come”

  1. The believer lives with the c                                         that salvation is the greatest moment of their life.
  • 1John 5:11-12 “And this is the testimony, God has given us eternal life and this life is in his Son. He who has the Son of God has life he who does not have the Son of God does not have eternal life.”
  • The greatest certainty – the greatest game changer in my life! _______________

 

Vs 6-10 “Therefore we are always confident and know that as long as we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord. For we live by faith, not by sight. We are confident, I say, and would prefer to be away from the body and at home with the Lord. So we make it our goal to please himFor we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ…”

  1. The believer lives with the c                                           that living for Christ is the greatest purpose in life.
  • Galatians 2:20 “I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live but Christ lives in me and the life I live in the body I live by faith in the Son of God who loved me and gave himself for me.”
  • We live to please Him not to impress Him but because we have been imprinted by Him.

 

Vs 11-15: “Since, then, we know what it is to fear the Lord, we try to persuade others… 14 For Christ’s love compels us, because we are convinced that one died for all, and therefore all died. 15 And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again.”

  1. The believer lives c                                             by God’s love to give his life to the Gospel of Christ.
  • John 14:21 “Whoever has my commands and obeys them, he is the one who loves me.”
  • If it is God’s highest inspiration and greatest motivation, it must be mine! Ps.143:8

 

Vs 16-21: “So from now on we regard no one from a worldly point of view… 17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!... 19 And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation. 20 We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us.”

  1. The believer lives c                                             to the message of reconciling their world to Christ.
  • Acts 20:24 “However, I consider my life worth nothing to me, if only I may finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given to me – the task of testifying to the gospel of God’s grace.”
  • An ever deepening understanding of the privilege to be in Christ leads to ever deepening responsibility to share Christ.

 

“To live with certainty in this life I must be certain to live for Jesus Christ!”
