“Something Greater – Something Fragrant”

2Corinthians 2:12-17

2Corinthians 2:14 “But thanks be to God who always leads us in triumphal procession in Christ”

Why Put on Christ

Vs 14a: “But thanks be to God, who always leads us in triumphal procession in Christ”

Truth: The more I live s               in Christ, the more I will experience victory in this world.

  • Romans 8:37 “No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.”
  • What does that mean? I don’t lose – I can’t lose in life or death. Philippians 1:21

Truth: The more I live s                         to Christ, the greater my freedom in this world.

  • 1Corinthians 4:1 “So then, men ought to regard us as servants of Jesus Christ and as those entrusted with the secret things of God.”
  • I am taken captive. I am to be captivated by the things of God. Philippians 3:12

The great paradox? Galatians 5:1

Vs 14-15: “But thanks be to God, who always leads us in triumphal procession in Christ and

through us spreads everywhere the fragrance of the knowledge of him. For we are to God the aroma of Christ among those who are being saved and those who are perishing”

Truth: The more I put on Christ, the more I s                       the presence of God in this world.

  • Philippians 2:15b-16a “Then you will shine among them like stars in the sky as you hold firmly to the word of life.”
  • We become ‘diffusers’ of God just as Christ. Ephesians 5:1-2

Vs 16-17: “To the one we are the smell of death; to the other, the fragrance of life. And who

is equal to such a task? Unlike so many, we do not peddle the word of God for profit. On the contrary, in Christ we speak before God with sincerity, like men sent from God.”

Truth: The more I put on Christ, the more I s                       in the glory of God’s grace.

  • Romans 8:17 “Now if we are children, then we are heirs – heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.”
  • My convictions and my testimony bring greater glory to God. Romans 1:16

Truth: The more I put on Christ, the more I live as one s                             from God into this world.

  • Acts 20:24 “However I consider my life worth nothing to me if only I may finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given to me, the task of testifying to the gospel of God’s grace.”
  • Our life is and was meant to be altered by this One person – this One cause.
  • I am God’s game changer! Matthew 16:19

Only let us put on Christ, the fragrant aroma of a surrendered life!
