Passage: Philippians 2:12-18

A Simple (yet hard) Way to Shine for Christ!

12 Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, so now, not only as in my presence but much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling,  13 for it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure.                                   Philippians 2:12-13 (ESV)

1.)      You ________________________to shine: God is shaping you for His purpose and His good pleasure.

  • ‘Work out’ not ‘work for’ your salvation. (v.12)
  • Ephesians 2:10 – You are God’s workmanship. (NIV84)

14 Do all things without grumbling or disputing, Philippians 2:14 (ESV)

2.) A ____________________________ to shine: Do everything without complaining or arguing.

  • Philippians 4:11 – I have learned to be content, whatever the circumstances. (NIV84)

15 that you may be blameless and innocent, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and twisted generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world,

Philippians 2:15 (ESV)

3.) You ___________________ shine: The challenge is not hiding His light in us.

  • Matthew 5:16 – “Let your light so shine…” (NIV84)

16 holding fast to the word of life, so that in the day of Christ I may be proud that I did not run in vain or labor in vain. 17 Even if I am to be poured out as a drink offering upon the sacrificial offering of your faith, I am glad and rejoice with you all. 18 Likewise you also should be glad and rejoice with me. Philippians 2:12-18 (ESV)

4.) Your ______________________ shine: comes by holding fast to “the word of life.”

  • Colossians 3:16 – Let the Word of Christ dwell in your richly… (NIV84)

A simple (yet hard) way to let your light shine in this dark world:

Do everything without complaining or arguing.
