A Heart for the Local Church

A Vision for Your Heart, Part 2

Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life.

                  Proverbs 4:23 (NLT)

My vision is that I (we) would increasingly develop:

A heart for God.—To passionately love God and vigilantly protect my heart from idols.

A heart for the local church.Joyfully, willingly and submissively live in unified, loving relationships with the members and leaders of my local church.

Can we just ‘get real’ about the local church?

12 Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Colossians 3:12 (NIV84)

1.) It is ______________________________________ to be united with my local church.

13 Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. 14 And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity. 15 Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.

Colossians 3:13-15 (NIV84)

2.) It is ___________________________________________________ to become a member (a body part) of my local church.

16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God.   17 And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. Colossians 3:16-17 (NIV84)

3.) It ____________________________________________________________ to live as a fully-functioning member of my local church.

Is it be my vision to have a heart for my local church?
