God Is My Personal Trainer!

Part 4: I Enlist Him to Fight My Battles!

And Hezekiah received the letter from the hand of the messengers, and read it; and Hezekiah went up to the house of the LORD, and spread it before the LORD. II Kings 19:14

Discover how important it is to have solid Biblical convictions and enlist God to fight your battles.

Notables who enlisted God in their battles:

  • George Washington ….

Þ The ‘Bulletproof’ George Washington – French & Indian War, 1755 …

Þ His army’s escape from Long Island during the Rev. War …

Þ Preserve me, O God: for in Thee do I put my trust. Ps. 16:1

  • The 91st Brigade, WWI – Psalm 91, the “Soldier’s Psalm” …
  • General Patton, WWII – December, 1944 …

Now, King Hezekiah:

  • > 185,000 enemy soldiers surrounded Jerusalem …
  • He took the enemy’s letter to the House of the Lord …
  • II Kings 19: Short prayer (15-19), long answer (21-34) …
  • The result: 185,000 dead in one night – II Kings 19:35 …
  • This foreshadows the end times: Zechariah 14 …

When God is our Personal Trainer:

  • We don’t have to defend ourselves …
  • He – His ways – will vindicate us …
  • When our convictions are thoroughly Biblically-based, we can keep silent & bring our case before God …
  • E.g.: convictions of the gospel… baptism … Biblical worldview … finances … education … child raising/education/discipline …

I lay down and slept; I awoke, for the LORD sustained me. I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people who have set themselves against me all around. Arise, O LORD; Save me, O my God! … Salvation belongs to the LORD. Your blessing is upon Your people. Selah. Psalm 3:5-8
