14 Because of my chains, most of the brothers in the Lord have been encouraged to speak the word of God more courageously and fearlessly.        Philippians 1:14

1.)     What is persecution like _______________________________________________?

  • Pastor Murat – Central Asia – one example
  • North Korea – Simply owning a Bible can mean instantaneous death.
  • Myanmar – Pat’s friend Phway Bu: Continually kicked out of buildings.
  • Iraq – only a few thousand remain after ISIS infiltrated in 2014.
  • Nigeria – Average of 5 churches attacked every single Sunday.
  • Colombia – Pastors often targeted and killed by guerilla groups.

10 Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, 11 Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me.   12 Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you Matthew 5:10-12

2.) What did ____________________________________________ about persecution?

  • Matthew 5:44 - Pray for and love your enemies.
  • Mark 13:13, John 15:18 – You will be hated for my name.
  • John 16:33 – In this world you will have trouble.

3 Remember those in prison as if you were their fellow prisoners, and those who are mistreated as if you yourselves were suffering. Hebrews 13:3
