REMEMBERING THE FALLEN ONE     Hebrews 10:8-22

The purpose of communion is to remember.

  • Luke 22:19 “Do this in remembrance of me…”

  • We find we are striving for grace… ‘I should read; pray; memorize more…’
  • Our Christian experience is as simple as walking in the Spirit. Galatians 5:25
  • We need to remember we are abiding in grace… John 15:5

The 5 Unchangeable Positions of Grace in Christ.

Vs 10: “And by that will, we have been made holy through the sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.”

  • Jesus said “it is finished” (temple curtain torn in two) we now have access to the Holy of Holies.

Vs 11-12: Day after day every priest stands and performs his religious duties; again and again he offers the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins.  But when this priest had offered for all time one sacrifice for sins, he sat down at the right hand of God”

  • All of them – past, present, future; Psalm 103:12 & Colossians 2:14

Vs 14: For by one sacrifice he has made perfect forever those who are being made holy.”

  • Without blemish as spotless as the ‘lamb of God’ Matthew 5:48

Vs 17: “Their sins and lawless acts I will remember no more.”

  • No remembrance…no record, never held against me; No judgment!

Vs 22: “let us draw near to God with a sincere heart and with the full assurance that faith brings, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience…”

  • No guilty conscience, a mind not seared by sin; No Fear!

Revelation 12:10-11 “They overcame him by the blood of the lamb and the word of their testimony…”

By receiving communion today, we remember – we are reminded – we testify to our position of grace - we testify to the ‘finished’ work of Christ in our lives!
