Passage: Matthew 11:25-30

Rest for Your Soul

A Brief Sabbatical Overview…

- What is a Sabbatical?

- Why a Sabbatical?

- Three main reasons for my Sabbatical.

25 At that time Jesus declared, “I thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that you have hidden these things from the wise and understanding and revealed them to little children; 26 yes, Father, for such was your gracious will.   Matthew 11:25-26 (ESV)

1.) God desires _________________________________________________.

27 All things have been handed over to me by my Father, and no one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and anyone to whom the Son chooses to reveal him. Matthew 11:27 (ESV)

  • God chooses to reveal his deep heart to those who are like children before him.

28 Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

Matthew 11:28 (ESV)

2.) God desires __________________________________________________.

29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”

Matthew 11:29-30 (ESV)

3.) God desires ___________________________________________________.

  • Matthew 23:4 – They tie up heavy burdens, hard to bear, and lay them on people's shoulders, but they themselves are not willing to move them with their finger.

- Jesus contrasts himself to the religious leaders of the day.

Let’s come to Jesus and find rest for our souls with Him!
