Review - Isaiah 58:13-14

 

16 For we did not follow cleverly devised myths when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we were eyewitnesses of his majesty... 19 And we have the prophetic word more fully confirmed, … 20 knowing this first of all, that no prophecy of Scripture comes from someone's own interpretation. 21 For no prophecy was ever produced by the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.. 2 Peter 1:16-21 (ESV)

 A quick overview of the history of the God’s family: 

  • Genesis – A perfect world is shattered. God’s family is broken. 
  • Exodus – Israel is enslaved. God’s family set free. A code given. 
  • Leviticus-Chronicles: God’s family has a history of faltering and returning to God. God introduces other nations to Israel.
  • New Testament: “When the fullness of time had come, God sent his Son…” Gal. 4:4

- Greek language is near-universal.

- Roman Infrastructure allowed rapid transportation possible.

  •  The Christmas Story – Good News of Great Joy: God in flesh enters the world!
  • The Easter Story – Jesus finishes His work, restoring God’s fractured family.

- John 19:30 - “It is finished.”

Your Story – Do you want to join the family?

  • John 3:16 - God so loved the world that he gave His Son...
  • John 1:12 – Believe in and Receive Jesus to become a God’s child.

- Thank God that you are a part of the family!

- Get involved and introduced to the family! (Consider a home group.)
