Passage: Proverbs 31:10-30

The Incomparable Worth of a Mother

An excellent wife who can find? She is far more precious than jewels.
                      Proverbs 31:10

Let your adorning be the hidden person of the heart…which in God's sight is very precious.       1 Peter 3:4

A woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.              Proverbs 31:30

  • Being centered on God & surrendered to Christ is what God calls precious.

A woman who “fears the Lord” has learned (and will re-learn):

1.) Love is expressed through sacrifice. But her performance doesn’t prove her worth.

  • 1 John 3:16 – By this we know love: he (Jesus) laid down his life for us.
  • 1 Peter 1:18-19 – ransomed…with the precious blood of Christ.

2.) Serving is the pathway to greatness. But her identity isn’t found in what she does.

  • Matthew 20:26-28 – Whoever wants to be great…servant!
  • 1 John 3:1 – that we should be called children of God!

3.) Since her approval doesn’t come from people, she embraces kindness AND firmness.

  • Romans 8:38-39, Romans 15:7 – Nothing can separate…Christ welcomes you!
  • Romans 11:22 – the kindness and severity of God…

4.) While following God isn’t easy, her mistakes don’t define her!

  • Luke 9:23-25 – Take up your cross…
  • 2 Corinthians 5:17 – A new creation…

A woman who fears the Lord,
who is centered on God,
who is surrendered to Christ:

Brings incomparable worth and value into her world!

Moms: Thank you for making our lives rich!
