Passage: Proverbs 2:1

The ‘Magic’ of Memorization/Meditation

My son, if you receive my words and treasure my commands within you,

so that you incline your ear to wisdom and apply your heart to

understanding; yes, if you cry out for discernment, and lift up your voice

for understanding, if you seek her as silver, and search for her as for

hidden treasures; then you will understand the fear of the LORD, and

find the knowledge of God. Proverbs 2:1-5

Three weeks ago: the Bible as ‘Your LIFE!’ (Pr. 1:20-23). Now, while the

Bible is available & we ought to read it as if our lives depended on it

(which they do!), the deep things of God – His choicest treasures –

need to be ‘mined.’ This is where memorization & meditation come in.

“This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day

and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will

make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.” Joshua 1:8

‘Breaking down’ Joshua 1:8: This Book of the Law … … … shall not

depart from your mouth … … … but you shall meditate in it day and

night … … … that you may observe to do according to all that is written

in it … … … for then you will make your way prosperous, and then you

will have good success. … … …

Some ‘meditations’ on Bible memorization and meditation:

  • The battleground between God & Satan is our souls.

Memorization and meditation puts God in control.

  • A trainer of racing animals was asked, “Which one is going to

win?” The trainer replied, “The one that is better fed.”

  • Repetition is the mother of all learning. A Russian proverb
  • It does not take a great mind to be a Christian, but it takes all the

mind a man has. Richard C. Raines

  • All truly wise thoughts have been thought already thousands of

times; but to make them truly ours, we must think them over

again honestly, until they take root in our experience. Goethe

  • The key to unlocking the inspiration held in the boundless

reservoir of the Bible’s pages is meditation. From ‘God Owns

         My Business,’ by Stanley Tam

  • Loving God with all our minds means bringing our thoughts into

         alignment with His thoughts.

  • The most important thing I had to do was to read the Word of

God and to meditate on it. Thus my heart was comforted,

encouraged, warned, reproved, & instructed. George Mueller

Now, once again: ‘Interactive’ … … …
