The Path to Freedom

“No God but Me” Exodus 20:3, Psalm 19:7-9

A spirit of confusion is upon the church wherever and whenever the law is not taught and upheld.

The great sum of the law is covenant love. Matthew 22:37-40

Freedom: The power or right to act, speak, or think as one wants without hindrance or restraint.

  • The first deception (Genesis 3:6) is still the great deception!

Freedom (true): The power to choose to act, speak, or think, under the authority of God’s Word.

The law and Jesus: Matthew 5:17 “Do not think that I have come to abolish the law or the prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them.”

What the Law is not for:

  1. The way of justification. Galatians 2:16
  2. The way of sanctification. Hebrews 10:4
  3. The way of legislation. Galatians 5:1

What the Law is for:

  1. Civil purpose: Good government: Romans 2:15
  2. Instructional purpose: Galatians 3:24
  3. Spirit’s purpose: John 16:8

The Making of gods: Exodus 20:3 “You shall have no other gods before me”

  1. My i____________________ is my god. 1Corinthians 1:25

  1. My w___________________ is my god. Deuteronomy 8:17-18

  1. My p___________________ is my god. Luke 12:19 & 1Corinthians 3:12-15

  1. My m__________________ is my god. Matthew 6:24

  1. My m__________________ is my god; 1Corinthians 7:35
  2. My c___________________ is my god. Psalm 127:3

What I have learned about the law. No God but me is to love God above all else! The end of all study is love. (Matthew 22:37-40) The end of all love is obedience. (John 14:21) The end of all obedience is worship. (Luke 6:46) The end of all worship is wisdom. (Matthew 7:24)
