The Path to Freedom The ‘Cradle’ of Civilization

Exodus 20:12 & Ephesians 6:1-3

 

Galatians 5:1 “It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again with a yoke of slavery.”’

 

Psalm 119:45 I will walk about in freedom, for I have sought out your precepts.”

 

  • Within the marriage and family is the ‘cradle’ of civilization – the ‘cradle’ of a

     civilized nation.  

 

What is a successful man?

Genesis 2:16-17 He is g______     _____ by and g___   _______ by God’s Word.

  • Affirmed in Joshua 1:8

 

Genesis 1:26-28 “Let us make man in our image – in our likeness”

 

  • Image of God: Attributes of, same qualities as:

 

  • Likeness of God: Reflection of, (like God) a likeness:

 

Truth: Parents must first be compelled to present the model of a C___________ centered home.

 

  • Deuteronomy 6:4-9 “on your hearts…impress them on your children”

 

Truth: I have a g________     _ responsibility to give my children the opportunity to experience the model.

 

  • Exodus 20:12 “Honor your father and your mother, so that you may live                              

   long in the land the Lord your God is giving you.”

 

  • A home of grace: (Ephesians 5:25 & John 15:13)

 

  • A home of truth: (Proverbs 29:15 & John 8:32)

 

Truth: The stakes are high for parents but the c_     ___________ are lived out in their children.

 

  • Ephesians 6:1-3 Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. 

 

         “Honor your father and mother” – which is the first commandment with a

         promise “

 

Proverbs 30:17 “The eye that mocks a father, that scorns obedience, will be plucked out by the ravens of the valley, will be eaten by the vultures.”

 

  • Spiritual implication: spiritual blindness – bitterness – bondage  

 

  • Matthew 18:34-35In anger his master handed him over to the jailers to be

   tortured, until he should pay back all he owed. “This is how my heavenly

   Father will treat each of you unless you forgive your brother or sister from  

   your heart”

 

 

If we, as a society, don’t get this right then there is nothing left to get right! Eph 6:1-3

 

 

  • Genesis 1:28 God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and increase in

   number; fill the earth and subdue it.”
