Passage: Matthew 11:25-30
Reset Your Life:
Jesus, Reset My Heart – Matthew 11:25-30
John 10:10 “The thief does not come except to steal, kill and destroy but I have come that
they may have life and have it abundantly.”
Hurry Sickness: “A behavior pattern characterized by continual rushing and anxiousness; an overwhelming and continual sense of urgency.”
A Hurried Life
- A hurried life: Empties us of our relationship with God. Luke 10:40
- A hurried life: Ensnares us to seek the approval of man. Galatians 1:10
- A hurried life: Decreases our capacity to love other people. Matthew 22:37-39
- A hurried life: Increases the opportunity for legalism. 1 Corinthians 8:1
- A hurried life: Increases our susceptibility to temptation. Matthew 4:1-2
- A hurried life: Desensitizes us to the work of God’s Spirit in our heart. Psalm 46:10
- A hurried life: Clouds your purpose and diminishes your passion. John 17:4
To Reset My heart Matthew 11:25-30
Vs 27 “All things have been committed to me by my Father. No one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.”
- Make s with God my highest priority. Matthew 14:23 “After he had dismissed them, he went up on a mountainside by himself to pray.”
- Psalm 91:1 “Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High, will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.”
Vs 28a: “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me,”
- Make s to God my highest duty. Mt 20:26-28 “Not so with you…just as the Son of Man did not come to be served but to serve and to give his life as a ransom for many.”
- Isaiah 40:31 “But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength…”
- A fallen world is designed to burn us up and spit us out! But not when we
live ‘intertwined’ with God.
Vs 28b-29: “for I am humble and gentle in heart, and you will find rest for your soles. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
- Make my s for life on God’s terms. Ps 90:12 “Teach us to number our days aright, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.”
- Easy yoke? Light burden? Because his life and schedule was committed to God.
- Psalm 90:17 “May the favor of the Lord our God rest on us; establish the work of our hands for us – yes, establish the work of our hands.”
"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me,”
- Whose yoke are you bearing, God’s or yours?
