Passage: Exodus 20:13
Life is Precious
The Path to Freedom – Part 6
You shall not murder. Exodus 20:13
- What does this command say (and not say)?
Because God declares that “Life is Precious”, I will:
“You have heard that it was said to those of old, ‘You shall not murder; and whoever murders will be liable to judgment.’ Matthew 5:21 (ESV)
1.) Preserve life __________________________________________________________.
But I say to you that everyone who is angry with his brother will be liable to judgment;
Matthew 5:22 (ESV)
2.) Protect life ___________________________________________________________.
…whoever insults his brother will be liable to the council; and whoever says, ‘You fool!’ will be liable to the hell of fire. Matthew 5:22 (ESV)
3.) Promote life __________________________________________________________.
So if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother has something against you, 24 leave your gift there before the altar and go. First be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift. Matthew 5:23-24 (ESV)
4.) Cherish life ___________________________________________________________.
What would change in me if my hands, my thoughts, my words and my affections
reflected God’s value that “Life is Precious”?
