The Path to Freedom – Part 4

 

 

We break the 4^th command when…

 

 

“Remember the Sabbath day…                 Exodus 20:8 (ESV)

 

1.)        Rest is _____________________________ (Instead of remembered as God’s gift.)

• Deut. 5:15 - You shall remember that you were a slave – and God set you free!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

“Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Exodus 20:8 (ESV)

 

2.) Rest is _______________________________ (Instead of kept as holy.)

 

• Deut. 5:12 - Observe the Sabbath, don’t ignore it!
• Exodus 31:16-17- The Sabbath is a covenant sign, don’t avoid it!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy. Exodus 20:11 (ESV)

 

3.)    Rest is _________________________________(Instead of blessed.)

• Genesis 2:1-3 - God blessed the seventh day and made it holy BECAUSE God rested from all His work!
• Isaiah 58:13-14 - Delight in the Sabbath and enjoy the Promised Land!

 

 

 

 

 

 

Let’s embrace the Sabbath as God’s gift, a sign of God’s covenant,

and a reminder of our freedom in Christ.
