What If Jesus Had Never Come?
And there are also many other things that Jesus did, which if they were written one by one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that would be written. Amen. John 21:25
“Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do because I go to My Father.” John 14:12
The four gospels – Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John – record a flurry of activity with Jesus:
- Teachings …
- Healings …
- Turning water into wine …
- Other miracles …
- Raising the dead …
- Mastery over the weather and nature …
- Walking on water …
- Feeding the thousands …
- And much, much more! …
But what was recorded in the gospels is a ‘sampling’ (though very representative) of Jesus’ activities. Much more could’ve been written.
Also, Jesus said that His followers would do greater works – on top of what He did.
It’s been over 2,000 years since Jesus lived, died, and rose again. And the world has been changed – in life and landscape. So if Jesus had not come, the world would be unrecognizable to us today.
A very partial list: if Jesus had never come, there would be no:
… … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … …
… … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … …
… … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … …
… … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … …
… … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … …
… … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … …
… … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … … …
‘Assignment’: as you celebrate Christmas with your family today, share other ways in which this world would be different if Jesus hadn’t come.
