“It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.” Galatians 5:1
Review: Spiritual Footings. 1. God desires contented Children. 2. God owns everything.
Foundational Finance Principles:
11 But as for you, O man of God, flee these things. Pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, steadfastness, gentleness. 12 Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called and about which you made the good confession in the presence of many witnesses. 1 Timothy 6:11-12
1.) Give to God. ___________________________________________________.
- V.11 – “Flee these things” (i.e. Aerodynamic Tithing!)
- V.11, 12 – “pursue righteousness…in the presence of many witnesses.” = the Church!
- Gal. 6:6 – Those who are taught…should provide for their teachers.(NLT)
17 nor to set their hopes on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who richly provides us with everything to enjoy. 18 They are to do good, to be rich in good works, to be generous and ready to share 19 thus storing up treasure for themselves as a good foundation for the future… 1 Timothy 6:17-19
2.) Live on a Budget ______________________________________________________.
- (V.17) – First purpose of money is worship of God.
- (v.18) – Second purpose of money is loving people.
- (V.19) – The ultimate goal of both purposes is for money to be a tool for God’s glory.
- Living on a Budget = the way of a wise man. (Prov. 21:20)
- Budget = apply Lk. 9:23-24 to your finances! (Deny himself, take up his cross daily...)
20 O Timothy, guard the deposit entrusted to you. 1 Timothy 6:20
