Salvation Basics from Ephesians: Salvation 102
16 In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one; 17 and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. Ephesians 6:16-17 ESV
A review from last time: Great Commission Churches (GCC), in their Statement of Faith, say this about salvation: "Men and women are freed from the penalty for their sins not as a result, in whole or in part, of their own works, goodness or religious ceremony, but by the undeserved favor of God alone. God declares righteous all who put their faith in Christ alone for their salvation."
The book of Ephesians contains some great salvation basics:
- Our salvation is a guarantee!
- Ephesians 1:13-14 - Our salvation is a gift of grace, not earned by works.
- Ephesians 2:8-9 - Our salvation allows us to know God and live a fulfilling life.
- Ephesians 3:17-19 - Our salvation should cause us to ___________ up in the church.
- Ephesians 4:15-16
- Hebrews 5:12-14. We should be moving from milk to solid food.
- Galatians 5:22-23. We should be bearing the fruits of the Spirit.
- 1 Peter 4:10. We should be using our gifts to serve one another. - Our salvation allows us to ___________ the love of Christ to others.
- Ephesians 5:1-2
- Colossians 3:13-14. We must forgive as Christ forgave us.
- 1 Peter 4:8. Love covers a multitude of sins.
Let’s love the lost, that they would get a sense of belonging, which leads them to a faith in believing, or “belonging before believing.” - Our salvation ______________ us from Satan’s attacks.

- 1 Thessalonians 5:8
- 1 Peter 5 8-9. We are in a spiritual battle and must be ready.
